It's that time

Look and listen for the slow rumble of garage doors as they reveal men and women across the nation fitted in green tinted shoes about to go about the manicuring the green stuff. Off in the distance is the roar of lawn mowers followed by the smell of freshly cut grass, that squeaky machine that invokes the white chalk lines on the green diamond followed by the sound of "play ball" and the sound of leather on leather in a brown puff of smoke.

It's where we spend our weekends in folding chairs, dodging foul balls and looking at our watches to check the time. Yes and even on our knees out view of our little ball players praying for rain out of sheer exhaustion from the work week. Yes it's SPRING and time for baseball baby!!!!!

Hope for Tomorrow

Time to step aside and look towards tomorrow is what I thought while sitting in the audience at this 6th - 7th grade band concert. Its' been more years then I want to acknowledge that I too propped my music on a similar music stand with first note butterflies of anxiety over the melodic tunes of my elementary school days. There was nothing elementary about growing up during my time and now look at what the "Hope for Tomorrow" faces in this new global economy and society.

As I sat there trying to convince myself that we sounded this good when I was in the band, I felt a sense of peace about the kids who sit in these chairs today; the kids now playing the melodic tones. Very much understanding that these kids will be the same kids inventing and realizing the future for tomorrow. No worries, we didn't get our stuff perfect but we had God on our side in the midst of everything else happening with the world. "He's not dead" and these kids are quite capable as their tones proved between the measures and key signature changes. Such are the lives we lead each day and Stevie Wonder knew this all too well as he developed the Double Album "Songs in the Key of Life". While the songs may have changes, they are still set to the same keys of their lives. Melodies married to harmony are one in the same; I truly have nothing but respect and "Hope for their tomorrow".

I did a shoot this weekend for a couple of friends for their twins birthday party; they have a total of three adorable little jewels. I did some preliminary editing and this is just one of the photo's from the party. More to come on these adorable little people.

Wow, Chicago's Michigan Ave had some awesome colors this past weekend and I was in too much of a hurry to get my tux that I didn't have my camera with me. My bad and I am really kicking myself for that. I was however there the week before and took a few shots on the street and while in Nordstrom's but I have got to get back and shoot those flowers before they're gone. I also want to shoot Millennium Park so stay tuned for a shoot later on this summer. Here are a few shots that I added a bit of punch too but the colors were already awesome.

Chicago - Angles to Infinity

Back in Chicago for the 3rd time in 2 months for the Lonzer/Jones Wedding. There wasn't much time to do a lot of shooting with the rehearsal dinner, the fact that I was in the wedding and the on again off again rainy weather they had. However, I did do some shooting across from the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart hotel we were staying in.

Before I went to Chicago, I decided to play around with Black and White's and what I call "Angles to Infinity". I guess the message for me, which I just got today, was not to take too much of a narrow view of things but to look at the different aspects of the "life experience" before making up my mind. None of us live in our own universe, but I'm sure they like us there if we did, so we have to work everyday at the co-mingling thing. There's so much rhetoric today that is focused on the negative, whether it's the economy, election jockeying and/or news in general, that it's good to be reminded that there's always another angle on things and that we can't be closed-minded to other possibilities and points of view.

I know from experience what it's like to live with a glass half empty in the midst of my glass half full and the damage that comes from the inability to examine things from different angles.
Each day the sun rises to another day, a new dawn if you will of new possibilities, perspectives and "angles to infinity". We are creatures of habit who find comfort in consistency and there's nothing wrong with that. BUT, what if one day, just one day, you chose another angle towards a new infinity.

Be blessed!!!

Spring is in the Air

Spring is here and I am on my way to Chicago to be the "Best Man" in my "Best Friends" friends wedding. I am very excited for my friend and his bride to be and I feel I have gained a sister in the process. Look for photo's from the wedding in the next several days.

I am also excited to announce that me website is finally up and active. I am still tweaking and adding photo's but the feedback so far has been great! My new website will give you access to all of my photography and I have a lot of shooting to do this spring and summer. I welcome your feedback and appreciate the continued support.
